“Go Paper. Grow Trees.” is a new awareness campaign launched by International Paper (IP) designed to give consumers the facts on how using paper products makes a direct contribution to the health and growth of trees and the forests. According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), a majority of the 750 million acres of U.S. forests are privately owned. These private owners—mostly family tree farmers—will ultimately determine what happens to our forestlands.

Domtar Corporation (NYSE/TSX: UFS) is launching its “Paper Because” campaign through advertisements that will appear in major U.S. and Canadian media outlets, including: The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Globe & Mail, Fast Company, Audubon, National Geographic and other consumer and trade publications. The campaign will also feature online banner ads and a series of short videos that will appear in a variety of online media.
MeadWestvaco to Sell Its Envelope Products Business to Cenveo

MeadWestvaco Corp. has agreed to sell its Envelope Products Group to Cenveo Inc., a leading graphic communications company based in Stamford, CT. The divestiture of the Envelope Products Group, which is part of MWV’s Consumer & Office Products business, to Cenveo will better position the business for continued growth and success. The sale is expected to close at the end of 2010. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Central National-Gottesman Inc. (CNG) today announced that its Lindenmeyr Munroe division has acquired the assets and business of Frank Parsons’s Fine Paper Division, one of the mid-Atlantic region’s leading independent paper merchants. The purchase includes Frank Parsons’s entire fine paper operation, which serves seven U.S. markets and consists of locations in or near Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, Lynchburg, VA, Norfolk, VA, Richmond, VA, Harrisburg, PA, and Pittsburgh, PA. Also included in the sale are six wholesale paper stores.

All stakeholders are invited to comment on the compliance of SFI 2010-2014 Standard with PEFC’s Sustainability Benchmarks by 6 October 2010.
