This site (the "Site") is owned and maintained by Central National-Gottesman Inc.(PVT), for itself and its Lindenmeyr Munroe, Lindenmeyr Central, Lindenmeyr Book Publishing and other divisions, subsidiaries and affiliates ("we" or "us") for your convenient access to information about our family of companies and products, as well as industry links, news, educational links and employment opportunities in the pulp and paper industry. In addition, in certain instances, users with appropriate account information can order products online.
Internally, we restrict access to personally identifiable information to employees who need access to the information in order to do their jobs. These employees are limited in number, and are made aware of and are committed to our privacy and security policies.
While we encourage all third parties involved in the Site (including affiliates and advertisers) to adhere to our privacy policies and to otherwise handle personal information in a responsible manner, we cannot, and do not, assume any responsibility for any actions or omissions of third parties, including the manner in which they use information received either from us or independently. Nevertheless, in the event you encounter any third party associated with, or who claims association with, us whom you feel is improperly collecting or using information about you, please contact our webmaster and we will be happy to forward your message to the third party.
1. What information do we collect?
We gather two types of information about users :
(a) Non-personally identifiable information: When visitors come to the Site, we collect and aggregate information such as IP addresses, operating system and browser software which indicates, among other things, which pages were visited, the order in which they were visited, and which hyperlinks were "clicked." Although such information is not personally identifiable, it helps us identify the most popular areas of our web site and determine the effectiveness of our promotional activities. In addition, we may disclose some of this information to advertisers to inform them of the number of people who have seen and/or clicked through their advertisements.
For the same purposes, we may use "cookies" - that is, small text files placed on your computers hard drive - to help us determine the type of content and sites to which you link, the length of time you spend at any particular area of the Site, and the services you choose to use. Cookies also tell us which advertising you have seen on the Site. Cookies are only read by the server that placed them, and are unable to execute any code or virus.
Although cookies allow us to provide better and more efficient service, and to personalize your experience on the Site, you will always be free to decline them if your browser permits. Declining cookies, though, may restrict your use of certain features on our site and may require you to re-enter your Username and Password more frequently during a session. For more information on how to control cookies, please refer to the documentation accompanying your browser.
(b) Personally identifiable information: In certain areas of the Site, we request that you provide us with personally identifiable information (including, for example, first name, last name, company name, street address, e-mail address, telephone number). If applicable, in order to purchase products from the Site, you must be a current account holder with us and register to obtain a Username and Password. Certain other optional information may be requested, which you may submit at your own discretion.
We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children (defined herein as minors younger than 13 years of age) without obtaining parental consent.
2. How do we use collected information?
Our primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide you, the user, with a customized experience on the Site, which may include personalized services, interactive communications and many other types of services.
(a) Non-personally identifiable information: We use non-personally identifiable information in aggregate form to build higher quality, more useful online services by performing statistical analyses of the collective characteristics and behavior of our account holders and visitors, and by measuring demographics and interests regarding specific areas of the Site. We may provide statistical information based on this data to advertisers, affiliates, and other current and potential business partners and may use the aggregate data to inform these third parties as to the number of people who have seen and clicked on links to their web sites.
Under confidentiality agreements, we may match user information with third party data. Also, we may disclose aggregated user statistics (for example, 45% of our users are female) in order to describe our services to prospective partners, advertisers, and other third parties, and for other lawful purposes.
(b) Personally identifiable information: Although registration is not required to browse the Site, or take advantage of industry, news, and educational links available on the Site, a Lindenmeyr Munroe account holder must register to purchase products from the Site. When you register, you may choose to "opt out" of receiving promotional materials from us and/or our affiliates, advertisers, or other business partners. If you do not "opt out" of receiving such promotional materials, we reserve the right to release any personally identifiable registration information regarding you to third parties who provide goods or services that we believe may be of interest to you. We will not release your credit card or credit information to third parties unless necessary to complete a transaction between you and such third party. If you decide that you would like to discontinue receiving promotional information, please contact third parties directly, or contact us at email@example.com.
We limit our own e-mail solicitations to those customers who have not "opted out" of receiving such communications; our e-mail solicitations will clearly indicate the originator of the e-mail. They will also provide the customer with a method of "opting out" of receiving future communications of a similar nature.
We may also use individual data to "target" advertising - to decide which advertisements and sponsor messages to show to which account holders. This process never gives the advertiser access to individual account information.
We reserve the right to release information contained within our access logs concerning any visitor or account holder who is in violation of our Terms of Service or other published guidelines, or engages (or is reasonably suspected of engaging) in any illegal activity, as required by law, court order, or as requested by other government or law enforcement authority. We cooperate with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who may be using our servers or services for illegal activities and reserves the right to report any suspected illegal activity to law enforcement for investigation or prosecution.
3. What security precautions are in place to protect the access, interception, loss, misuse, or alteration of information?
If applicable, your Account Information is password-protected so that you and only you have access to it. If you need to edit your personal account information, you should provide the new information to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your current Username and Password on all such communications. We recommend that you do not divulge your Username and Password to anyone. We will never ask you for your Username and Password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. Also remember to sign out of your account and close your browser window when you have finished your work.
Unfortunately, because no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed as 100% secure, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk.
4. How can you access, update, correct, delete or deactivate your personally identifiable information?
You may edit your personal information at any time by providing the new information to us at email@example.com. Please include your current Username and Password on all such communications.
Your account can be deactivated, but doing so will result in not being able to access any account holders-only area of the Site.
If you would like to have your personally identifiable information removed from our database, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will use reasonable efforts to comply with your request. Please keep in mind, however, that there will be residual information remaining in our databases, access logs, and other records, which may or may not contain such personally identifiable information. The residual information will not be used for commercial purposes; however, we reserve the right, from time to time, to contact former customers of ours or users of the Site.
5. Third party sites.
The Site may contain links to other Internet web sites, including co-branded or other affiliated sites, which may or may not be owned or operated by us. Unless otherwise explicitly stated, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such web sites, including such sites use of any information collected when visitors to the Site click through links to those sites. To the extent you disclose your personal information on other web sites, even those to which you have linked through the Site, different rules may apply to their use or disclosure of that information to third parties. We do not control the privacy practices of those sites and therefore strongly encourage you to familiarize yourself with the privacy practices and customs of any web site controlled by a third party before disclosing your personal information on that site.
